Editing Jump Cuts

We decided to explore the editing features on iMovie by adding audio to our footage and then splitting and cutting the footage for the into to coincide with the rhythm of the song. We found that editing to the beat for the establishing shots was effective in enhancing the quality of the music video because it instantly created a connection between the audio and the visuals.

Extension to Filming Schedule

We filmed on all the days we planned and we got all the footage we planned to get, however, when we started to upload the footage onto the Mac we found that we didn't have enough footage for the duration of the song so we decided to go back to B&Q to add to the footage by doing more work-like activities in the store. We also had to refilm the office scene because the lipsync didn't match to the song.

Our Actress

We only need one main actress for our narrative so we decided that I would do it because I'm young and relatable to our target audience. Using someone from within our group is also very convenient because I am very flexible which would make scheduling filming dates a lot easier, also I will have valuable input while filming which other actresses may not have.

Here is all the camera equipment we plan to use to film. We have upgraded to a Sony APS-C and a Velbon tripod:

The prop list consists of a money jar for the insert shots, B&Q uniform for the mise en scene of working in the store, we will also be using an acoustic guitar to do the busking:

Locations

We wanted to use generic locations to film in that we felt your average teen or young adult would have access to, this way the audience is able to place themselves in the shoes of the artist which makes the narrative of a trying to make money more realistic. Some of the locations we use in our music video may even inspire others with some ideas of what they could do to make money. At the moment we plan to film the part of the music video where the protagonist is working in B&Q in the store in Enfield retail park, the market in Enfield Town is where we plan on doing the busking as well as the Enfield Chase Train Station. Then we will do some lip-synching shots at Town Park.
